01

Light and privacy behavior

Blinds redirect light by tilting; they always leave small gaps. Shades control light by fabric: solar fabrics filter glare, opaque fabrics give privacy and darkness.

02

Durability and maintenance

Aluminum and faux wood blinds tolerate abuse and wipe clean. Shade fabrics vary; commercial-grade fabrics with robust clutches hold up well, and individual fabric replacement is straightforward.

03

Scale and appearance

Shades read as a clean plane across curtain walls; blinds look busier at scale. For consistent façades, document one color and mount.

04

Motorization

Shades motorize more naturally and suit grouped control. Motorized blinds exist but are less common in commercial work.
